Splatter Tiger- Conserve White Tigers; Against Tiger Poaching
The dramatic features and characteristic of the white tiger capture my attention. White tigers differ from the standard orange and black tigers in appearance only; as they are albino tigers and carry the recessive trait for albinism. They are characterized by having a creamy white coat with random black/brown stripes, bright blue eyes, and a pink nose. White tigers are extremely beautiful animals but apparently are struggling for survival. In nature, white tigers have difficulty camouflaging themselves in their natural habitat.
Despite the fact that white tigers are endangered, some are still captive and kept in zoos. Owners of these endangered white tigers say that these animals make very popular exhibits and help increasing the zoos revenues as well as attendance, allowing people to see these beautiful creatures and raising awareness regarding the tiger’s struggle for survival.
With this design, Marlon used the white tiger adding a touch of abstract by using splatter. Because he wanted people to be aware that another species is in need of conservation and in need of saving. Marlon states “Let us save these animals and others, big or small, for our children and for the children of our children. So they can see how beautiful the creation of our Almighty God. Every creation of our God has a purpose in this world”.
A Glimpse at the Artist – Marlon Bartolo
Marlon Bartolo is a born artist. Inspired by his father who is a bag maker (designs bags); he then took up fine arts in University of the East at Caloocan City Philippines. “When I took up fine arts, never did I believe that I would become a graphic artist, design t-shirts or use a computer to design or to create art. When I graduated and searched for a job, most of the employers were looking for an artist who can use computers to create a design. Let’s face it, nowadays; if you don’t know how to use a computer, it is very difficult to gain employment. Encouraged by my better half, I took a short computer course to learn the software that I can use to combine my artistic skills with computers. She always pushes me to try new things, teaches me not to be afraid and to take every challenge in life as a key to success, she’s right! Currently we are running a small shop where I can also share and display my artistic skill. We do personalized digital works like enhance/digital photo printing, tarpaulin printing / layout, invitation, PVC I.D. / bag tag, key chains, coffee mug printing, sticker print, and t-shirt printing. You can check some of our personalized designs at http://lhoonymaose.deviantart.com/ or visit my FB account.
In five years of being a graphic artist, this is the first time that I joined on an on-line contest, never believing that I could go this far. I never believed that I won this contest; my co-graphic artist just called me and then told me “Bro, congrats, you won!” I thought it was a joke and when I got home and checked, WOW! I was the winner. It is truly a big privilege to be a winner of this kind of contest. I am very thankful to those who support my design and I hope for your continuous support. The splatter tiger design is currently in pre-production and will be ready next week. You can pre-order this design by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
